This is an old Dean Dampney photo I love, Dean has a great eye, for me this photo shows perfectly the special bond that can exist between a dog and (surfer) owner.
I love that Guy. One can only surmise but the body language of the dog- its ears, worry, anxiousness, please come back safely my beloved human, who knows? It's a great shot.

Yes the GOAT still has it with his eyes. He's getting on a bit now, slowing down,stiff hips and a bit deaf like his owner. Loves to poke around on the beach or in the wetlands but at his own pace. The young ratbag just likes to run and chase.

That photo reminds me of one day over 30 years ago I was at Trespassers with a couple of mates and our dogs, and the surf was on.
Got changed jumped in and paddled out. The break is a good 100m from the shore which is pretty rocky and sharp. Once we got out to the break, my Ridgeback sitting on the rocks started howling as hounds can do for a good 10 mins and we were all watching him having a bit of a laugh about it between waves. Eventually he stopped and I couldn't spot him from the water anymore, thinking he's gone for a walk and a sniff around so all good.
10 mins later, there he is in the water, joined us out on the reef!!
My mates are freaking out, you know, dogs, deep water reef, sharks etc.
He proceeded to circle around me as there was nowhere to go for him, and of course I had to paddle in wide of the reef and get him to follow me back to shore.
He was my mate for 12 years and many good times had together. So loyal!!
