from NY Post's live feed:

"Amish turn out for Pennsylvania vote in 'unprecedented numbers': source
By Caitlin Doornbos
Republicans could see a boost in Pennsylvania from an demographic rarely seen at the polls: the Amish.

The state's famed "Pennsylvania Dutch" registered to vote in "unprecedented numbers" in response to a January federal raid on a local raw milk farm in Bird in Hand, Pa., a source familiar told The Post.

"That was the impetus for them to say, 'We need to participate,'" the source said. "This is about neighbors helping neighbors." "

Trump killing it in Georgia at 58/42%. That's probably unrealistic and it will come down.

flollo Wednesday, 6 Nov 2024 at 11:40 am new

Jeez. Neck to neck in Virginia? That's unexpceted. It's still very early and Kamala should easily take it. But yeah, first 100k votes are split equally. I guess a lot of this stuff depends on the county that started counting.

EDIT: They just dropped those Washington DC suburbs and Kamala took a big lead.

At this stage, looking at some county level data Harris is performing similar to Hillary. This is definitely not a Biden/Trump repeat.

No surprises there as I’m guessing that you would be hard pressed to find a woman young enough in Florida to have functioning ovaries? The elephant’s grave yard of died hair, injectables, gawdy fashion faux pas, liposuction, wellness clinics and gluten free diets ….

So far so good (for the electoral process) but the night isn't over - from what I can see county courts are onto delayed openings really fast, granting extra time. One lot of 30,000 ballots got ordered a recount as a tabulator left a door open and scrutineers picked it up. Machines are breaking down - have heard of completed ballots to be entered by election officials, have heard of breakdowns in Pa unis and solid R counties. There seems to be a process to overcome it - adds to long waits in line. Surely, paper and pen is better? One lawsuit won by R committee in Pa to disclose election officials identity (usually provided) = transparency.

No doubt this is going to be watched very closely

flollo Wednesday, 6 Nov 2024 at 01:47 pm new

Trump +5 in Georgia and NC with 70%-ish counted.

And crazily enough, Virginia is back to neck to neck with 60% counted. Harris will probably still take it but I find the current situation hard to believe.

If the war in Ukraine ends, that can only be a good thing as too many have been killed on both sides for pretty much nothing.
Should never have started if NATO/ USA were not so aggressive in their expansion.
Taiwan in my view is just fear western mongering of China threat (could be wrong but cannot see an invasion happening).
Do not think whoever is in the White House will make any difference to the plight of the Palestinians/ Lebanese, the genocide and slaughter will continue until Israel has the land it is now after, or Iran get involved and the whole region is ablaze with the USA becoming involved.
Sad days.
My 2 cents worth.

Apparantly latin demographics turned to Trump. And also young men turned out in big numbers. Apprently Trump campaign focused solely on young men over the last few days of the campaign. The fact that Miami-Dade voted Trump is fascinating. Hillary was +30 there in 2016.

EDIT: Loudoun County for example. Washington DC suburbia in Virginia. They were talking about this one, it's 95% counted with Harris winning 56 to 40. But what's interesting is that Biden won this with well over 60% of the vote. The score Harris achieved is more or less identical to Hillary.

Reckon just as much chance with either party.
Iran have yet to retaliate, let's see what happens then. Depending on what you read/ watch they have the capability to really inflict some harm on Israel.
Iran from what I would gather would be a lot bigger than Iraq and Afghanistan combined.

Dunno, hope to not find out! Will Russia/ China get involved?

I've been keeping out of this but for interests sake I met a young American homestay student about 2 weeks ago here in my house. She is 18 years old, black and going on to study business at uni. She is from Birmingham Alabama. Sweet girl.

We got to talking about the election and get this- she and her friends are voting Trump. I was gobsmacked. I asked her why when I expected she would automatically vote Kamala (woman, POC etc.) she said that Kamala comes across as distrustful and nobody really knows what she stands for. Gun control is one of the important issues for young people from where she comes from among other things. I asked about women's reproductive rights and how Trump is against that- she said that wasn't entirely true and that Trump doesn't want to ban abortion but wants to hand the power to individual states rather than nationally. I actually didn't know that, but she seems pretty informed and pretty switched on. I still can't believe she is voting for Trump though. Young, black, woman- thought it would a no-brainer.

Anyway, maybe an anomaly but her response to me really surprised me.
