I think the Algerian should be able to compete in the women’s div. In this particular case she is a woman’ grew up as a woman, has always identified as a woman, and as such should be free to compete.

and it appears transitioning athletes need to manage their ongoing testosterone injections so they don't get disqualified

much like many / any athletes now and anything performance enhancing, it's about juggling doses, levels, and timing as much as anything...

males also have stronger bone structure, mass, and a different muscular skeletal system generally

also advantages regarding lung capacity too

I guess in terms of khelif getting her arse whipped... it comes down to how proficient you are, how much you train, what stage of your career you in etc. ...the variables are endless... bottom line is you have to draw a line somewhere, and the rules are somewhat arbitrary

and this is where the xx / xy thing is one of the few hard and fast variables that can be managed

unfortunately, it seems the throwing out of this variable is largely ideologically driven, as the 'identify' thinking has taken precedence

but interestingly, this variable may have been often unknown or unchallenged in the past, as it wasn't such an issue as now

a lot of this isn't just about culture,
it is also a result of developing technology, and the associated advantages available. same with transitioning, technology now offers untold opportunity, whereas before people just had to live in the bodies they were given

the whole 'culture wars' and 'transphobic' stuff is largely bullshit I reckon, largely ideals, standards and new ideas that have developed in a vacuum

it seems to me the IOC has rushed ahead on an ideological basis without really thinking it through

we've seen this with skateboarding, the original swimming body position, and surfing contests too. where the 'winner' looks out of place for the majority of observers, and something just doesn't seem right

sadly the competitors cop the backlash, where really these ruling bodies maybe should have a clearer positions and more confidence in the rules in place...

this current case is so difficult. as she has lived her whole life as a woman, the way I see it, the problem is the inconsistency and chopping and changing of rules...
