What things sound like are often nothing to do with what you want to interpret / hear ;);)

Next time there is an opportunity, choose to abstain (through choice and not mere problem solving) and try and observe ppl drinking in ‘moderation’…

Australian ‘moderation’ often involves a display of exaggerated self inflating heroics that are highlighted with bullshit tales of imagined brotherhood and romantic conquest.

Alcohol - with all its imagined ability to help create genuine social interaction - is a drug for fools with low self esteem ;)

Our culture celebrates and thrives on alcohol. People will be fuckwits regardless of it being consumed or not - but if you wish to see if there is something out there to further diminish your decision making capabilities - then alcohol is for you !

Consider the amount of damage alcohol reaps on society - drink driving, domestic violence, sexual assault - just to name a few…

Alcohol is not the cause - it is the conduit - and alcoholism is an absolute beast of burden ;);)

Consider life without it…

If that is gonna be a problem then you have the problem ;)

But…

‘She’ll be right mate’ ;)

I assume you’re talking to me?

You’ve just described people that consume alcohol in the exact opposite way I do.

“ Next time there is an opportunity, choose to abstain (through choice and not mere problem solving) and try and observe ppl drinking in ‘moderation’…”

I do that from Monday to Thursday, there’s beer in the beer fridge those days, and I choose to abstain.

Talk about interpreting things the way you want…. ;)

Thanks, blackers. It’s a tough road, all the best to you.

My wife is over it all now, just 3 monthly checks and a few blood tests to check various levels.

She is alive today because of big pharma and the very generous first world health system we have in Australia.

If people choose to live an alcohol free life that’s unreal, just don’t preach about it and try to portray people who enjoy a drink responsibly as second rate citizens.

This may be obvious to other people on here and they may have not have had that trouble but what got me out of that rut was a "wank and strangle".

Every time you feel it coming on have a strangle of your knob, wait a few seconds and do this until a wank lasts at least fifteen minutes. After a while if you do it a lot you can last an hour in the sack.

You can also control when you finish so finish at the same time as them. Also go again a few times if your girls horny enough.Dont have much libido at the moment though and look at porn about once every three months.

As for surf fitness, well im struggling with that but ill try to get out there every time my local b or c grade wave breaks in clean conditions. A good diet, exercise and surfing every time it breaks, paddling against the strong current should get me back to surfing ok.

What you do is just as important as what you eat and what you don't eat. Variety in our diet is crucial. And don't drink a litre of celery juice every morning cos some celebrity does it. Eat what is right and good for you. I once nearly died from constipation after i read that blueberries are good for your brain. They are also good for stopping diarrohea, which makes them excellent for massive constipation if you eat a punnet a day for weeks on end ...

But take it easy as you cleanse your diet. I know of a bloke who drank a litre and a half of water at a health retreat after not drinking pure water for many years. He went into cardiac arrest as his body just did not know what to do with pure water. He was a huge coffee drinker. Coffee is very acidic and is the cause of much haliotosis, tension and aggro in the world. Cancer loves acidity from any source, be it meat, coffee or sugar.

Those vids are great Udo. I liked the last one the most..Very informative.

Doing some research and had a feeling diazapam use might have ruined my surfing ability and desire to get into my wetty in cold mornings etc in kalbarri (desert easterlies are usually COLD there)..Looking back its whenever ive been using diazapam or valium 5mg to 10 mg a day sometimes drinking alcohol too, but last indo trip in six months of staying there i drank about 3-5 beers total. Also about two 500ml bottles of Arak, So it wasnt alcohol and my muscle memory really wasn't there later on in the trip when a girl who worked in an apotek or pharmacy hooked me up with valium- it was then that i would forget how to correctly land a drop on a standup.

I mean like later on in the last month i would lean forward but then have too much front foot and at a very sucky wave like ss (which is named for being a sucky wave) you need back foot pressure on landing a drop or the nose will dive on landing..Did some research lately and it seems either olanzapine and valium use, occasionally abuse of valium (15-20mg valium on occasion with a lot of alcohol in Aus).
Anyway it seems they might hinder muscles and coordination and muscle memory.

Seems very coincidental that the times i gave valium up and olanzapine up seemed to be times where i surfed alright and was keen, with better muscle memory..The "drop" in surfing isn't something you think about when its happening, but learning from mistakes and thinking about it at home and then acting on those lessons next time its tubing..Reacting like reacting to a person running out in front of your car..Its not something you think about turning around them and braking..

Anyway i am guilty of over drinking and overdoing e's and coke in my past sometimes but still feel ok besides paranoia and can never touch cannabis, which is why i might have grown it years ago- to make money to go surfing and pay off my car, not smoking it all..if im not taking clopixol and smoke cannabis, it is just is an enduring 4 hours of depression and paranoia for people like me.Some of my long said good bye friends loved it tho in 90's /2000's. Some schizo people can smoke it but i could only handle it if taking clopixol or could handle small amounts at 16 years or so when it was all fun and games and laughing for a few hours at anything....Now its just a black dog of bad vibes.

I don't know if its wrong to have made small amounts of money by growing small amounts of weed to feed a surf and travel lifestyle but its what i "might" have done and feel a little guilty about it, "possibly" selling or trading with people the same drug that might send a small amount of people people nuts, but it is what it is.

Here is some websites on sports and both olanzapine and diazapam (valium)
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9810623/

https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=olanzapine+and+muscl…

I agree with A lot of the people posting like Jelly Flater that alcohol abuse in Australia is too respected..Most good surfers i know do it in moderation though like even one well known pro in the Barri sometimes drinks and was sponsored by a bourbon company but if he drank as much as a full on piss head like i sometimes was he wouldn't be as good a surfer or fisherman as he is.

Pot or THC and CBD use on the other hand if you're not predisposed to a mental illness like schizophrenia or bipolar or suffer anxiety, than it seems pretty harmless compared to alcohol abuse. And no hangover.
Much better past time i reckon than drinking in excess often.

One of my best friends in barri tried to help me give alcohol up and did for about 10-11 months and lost beer gut and surfed a bit but fell off or back on the wagon or however the saying goes.

Sorry to bum everyone out and this is a "wellbeing" thread but i dont know if i will ever surf waves like shark island my fave bodyboarding wave again.Maybe on a lid but certainly not waves like i used to ride. Last time i surfed a secret spot on a fish i stood up on one wave the whole day. Lid is natural and easy for me but standing up isn't like riding a bike imo.
It takes work and dedication to get half way to where you might have been 13 or 20 years ago.

Got to give up the olanzapine and valium too.

udo Thursday, 20 Apr 2023 at 04:51 pm new
