Alright, time for some discussion on what yr all listening too. My iTunes inventory is getting a little stale so I'm up for some inspiration.

Currently loving The Drones' album "Havilah".. incredible songwriting and some of the best recorded guitars and drum I've heard in a long time. I'm a little late to the party with this album but it's on high rotation at the moment and will probably stay there a while. I've seen these guys live once (Fowlers, Adelaide) and fortunately they're incredible on stage too. Can't wait to see them again.

The new normal?

"The UK's first socially distanced gig happened in Newcastle last night.

500 separate raised metal platforms, each accommodating up to five people from the same family/household. Hand sanitizer and mini-fridge included. Drinks could be pre-ordered to avoid queues. Singing and dancing allowed too! Face masks were worn when making trips to the bar."

Nice Sheepdog. Great memories. Have you read the Ian Curtis bio? Sad tale.

AndyM Thursday, 13 Aug 2020 at 11:15 pm new

I can't imagine anyone writing a song like that these days and if they did, people would lose their minds.

stunet Friday, 14 Aug 2020 at 08:57 am new

Yet if they knew the real meaning...

And considering Curtis was himself an epileptic, and that diagnosis supposedly contributed to his suicide, makes it one of JD's more harrowing songs.

garyg1412 Friday, 14 Aug 2020 at 11:40 am new

Someone mentioned Pavolv's Dog the other day and the old memory bank went into overdrive thinking about these guys. The vocals are next level.

Find some old late 70s early 80s footage of MR and Shaun with the single v twinnies battle at the time.. Play this track in the background. I promise you.. You get a nostalgia buzz.

Was that Fischer-Z song used in an actual surf flick of the time?

I see Cheyne Horan on a Lazor Zap...or maybe a Simon 81 montage.

"The past is a foreign country; they do things differently there."

Here’s a song which you’ll be humming till bedtime.

How good was Australia when a couple of shirtless lads could wander onto the pitch and shake the player’s hand mid game , without getting fined $100K . Spectators loved it .

And how good was it when enthusiastically smashing a cold beer with your mates wasn’t viewed as one up from first degree murder. No one wants domestic violence, drink driving deaths or getting glassed in a pub but the modern incarnation of a beer as a hesitant sip in muted silence leaves me cold.

blackers Tuesday, 25 Aug 2020 at 04:48 pm new

Ah the old cat piss in a can, Can't say I'll be humming that mofo any time today, but each to their own.

Good oil.

First time I went to Glasgow, The Meteors and the whole psychobilly scene was huge. I was quite pleasantly shocked.

Have you got that compilation album Rockabilly Psychosis and the Garage Disease, Blackers?

Now there a bunch of tunes Facto. I have a copy on cassette somewhere, and still have something to play it on! Went down a wormhole on YouTube after listening to some of those, only just coming up for air. I caught the tail end of that scene in London in the early 90’s, but grew up on the Melbourne sludge country/rockabilly sounds, so very fond memories.

Facto, on your chirpy chirpy cheep cheep song above- Ron Jeremy on drums?

garyg1412 Tuesday, 8 Sep 2020 at 10:23 am new

Never forget when I was a kid and my old man had a 7" vinyl - the ones where you used an adaptor for the big hole. One side was Middle Of The Road "Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep" and the other side was The Sweet "Ballroom Blitz". Bit of a time warp that one Facto.
Ron Jeremy on drums, Jimmy Savile on the fiddle Zen??
