I have a mate that no one drops in on more than once. Big bastard,110kgs, all muscle. If he gets burnt he says nothing, bides his time, waits until the offender paddles by then grabs their hair at the back and fucken dunks them.Holds their head under just long enough for panic to set in. Then just paddles off, says nothing no matter what abuse they give. Not only does that guy not drop in again, but it's amazing how polite everyone else in the lineup gets after seeing that.
Mate, I knew you were posting on these forums but didn't know which one you were, must be me your talking about as its a perfect description of myself . I'll see you out in the line up next time my weedy little friend:-D
sing it brothers & sisters

Gotta love that 80s production. Here's one for Adam 12 and his mate, VKC Matlock, Bargearse, and whoever's out there feeling the burn (not Sanders).
A personal fave I like to bust out karaoke-style at the rub n tugs in Padang (along with Whitney's The Greatest Love of All..."It's happening to me!").
C'mon let's get together and sing "all the children say..."

another take on the matter
how about as a solution , remove all the nets , and then chum the break with Ox blood , might scare Mick off , so you can have some waves to yourselves , and therein lies the problem , stunning that people paddle out at the supabank and expect to ride waves by them selves , any self respecting local , if he didn't know the surfer on the inside will get ," I didn't think you would make that barrel , so sorry I dropped in " sounds fair enough to me!
Sharkman -" stunning that people paddle out at the supabank and expect to ride waves by them selves , any self respecting local , if he didn't know the surfer on the inside will get ," I didn't think you would make that barrel , so sorry I dropped in " sounds fair enough to me!"
No. Therein lies the problem.
BTW how's it going being Mick's minder these days? Feeling the pinch a bit??
I don't want to advertise the opposition ..... But appears everyones voices are being heard .
Someone posted earlier that they expected the print media to come out and defend the pro's actions ( more so paper , but we are talking a stereotypical paper editor here ) . Maybe a leopard can change his spots ?

"This shit couldn't be more fucking off. Don't fucking believe that crock.
If you're a local, sit at the peak, take what you want, but not by burning people, you don't need to. You're position in the line-up is based on your experience.
With that experience you've developed a refined ability and skill level. You can ride the wave from the peak and you know which waves to take, that's why you can sit at the peak-you know where the peak is. All waves have a preferred take off spot, sit there. If you sit on the shoulder, don't expect the best waves, even if you're a local, you're in the wrong place to catch them.
If you're visiting, respect the locals- they get first crack IF they are in position to take them. Stay out of their way. You get the leftovers. Pay attention, there'll be some. Don't mess up when you get one, surfing good is how you get respect and opportunity.
NOBODY ANYWHERE EVER SHOULD DROP IN ON SOMEONE WHO IS UP AND RIDING. If they caught the wave legitimately (see above), then it's their's to ride, and not you're to decide otherwise, for any reason. If the rider caught the wave illegitimately (see above), tell them so when they paddle back out, forcefully. If they still persist, escort them to the beach. Don't disgrace the waves, surfing, or yourself by dropping in. Dropping in is dangerous, for everybody. Settling it on the beach is only dangerous for those involved. If you get escorted to the beach by the locals, you are a kook. If you're a local who thinks being a local gives you the right to drop in, you're a kook.
To all you who whine, "I didn't think you were going to make it," I say, "FUCK YOU!" In that frame grab above, Mick is the reason the other guy doesn't make it. MICK IS A FUCKING KOOK FOR DROPPING IN!
It doesn't matter how crowded it gets, thems the real rules. Pay attention. Be honest with yourself about your ability. Find your place in the line-up. Stop fucking chatting about the movie you saw last week, etc, and learn to fucking surf. If you're not getting any waves, go to a learning spot. Everybody starts at the bottom, if you don't like it, surfings not for you.
Stop complaining about the mainstream media, Jed, they're doing your job for you. Jealous little bitch.
Over everything, stay the fuck out of my way. If you drop in on me, no matter who you are, I will put my board through yours and up your ass. Jungle rules."
Comment on above article by voice of no reason.
Absolutely spot on mr turkey
Anyone who doesn't obey the first rule of surfing is a kook
and anyone who tries to justify that behaviour is a cocksucking kook .

"Should surf media blanket ban pros that drop in on locals? That would starve us of content and mean that you, the reader, would lose out."
By writing the above, it seems that Alex Workman from Tracks mag is a little out of the touch with the real world.
I mean of course the average punter is going to lose out if the world's best surfers actually behaved as role models and fostered better etiquette in the surf.
Ummm, right?

Those first three links underline the corporate nature of pro surfing and that those companies should actually give a shit when their boys and girls play up.
Interesting how so much of the goodwill surrounding Fanning has evaporated so quickly - sponsors take note.
If it's good enough for football players to be expected to behave like role models it's good enough for pro surfers.
People say that surfing is different, the same rules don't or shouldn't apply. You're getting paid money for scores out of ten and to represent your masters, it's exactly the same.
What happens when one of these guys gets a photo taken pissing in their own mouth or dry humping a staffy? Blatant drop ins much the same in my book . Professional sportmen need to be accountable whatever code they represent. They are selling shit for a living either way so up to the companies who pay these guys to work that out.
Banning photos in the media of pros dropping in is just going to hide the problem. a better idea is show the pro dropping in and the cut the rest of the wave, the only exposure they get is negative. Over a period it will add up, Dean Morrisons shares must be on the way down, did he win a world title? Can't remember, but what I do remember is it's been 3 years since he paddled into a wave.
there was an AFL player in a trial game, got caught sitting on the bench pissing under a towel into a cup, all on live tv, he got a written warning from the afl, just goes to show how piss weak the nrl is against the media circus
What happens when one of these guys gets a photo taken pissing in their own mouth or dry humping a staffy? Blatant drop ins much the same in my book
well its way worse really, for anyone that knows what surfers are like, and knows what the only real rule we have is to manage surfing - don't drop in.
all the other stuff, snaking, hassling etc. are subjective
that jeb kook calls out others for not having a 'nuanced' knowledge of surfing, you're living in a bubble mate
Rather than ban photos of pros dropping in, it's more the idea of not giving pros the media exposure that their sponsorships are based on. If you were paying someone big dollars to promote your product, would you be happy with less-than-maximum exposure?
You'd be putting pressure on your boy to pull his head in wouldn't you?
lets not kid ourselves , yes Dean and Mick are copping a ribbing rightly so .
But surfing is nowhere near a team sport , comparing to such is just plain stupidity .
They are held accountable because their sport is defined by a set of rules which are judiciously adhered to . Yes some pro's are engaged in competing for points on a tour . but the rest are jsut competing for the " look at me " get rich lifestyle companies that feed off the sport / pastime . Others are right that the media is their avenue , but in this day and age media more mirrors surfing . In taht individuals can broadcast what they want on mediums such as you tube , instagram , facebook etc .
Only catch their is it is often where they can be protested against unedited . Yes they can block posters etc , but then nothing is stopping a blockee from starting up their own page , " ........ is a drop in prick " etc etc .,....
Surfing is man( singular ) against and with nature . Occasionally at such shitholes as this tpoic is on , then it becomes every man for himself , fuck nature fuck everyone else . If WSL has an issue with that then they should take the contests to remote locales AND DON"T ACTUALLY REVEAL WHERE THAT IS .
what the real issue is here , is that the WSL are running the contests , but are also trying to make a buck on the side doing exactly what the " look at me " lifestyle companies are doing , in that its trying to suck on the teet of the past time . They can't have it both ways , 'cause in this modern age the pastime will drag down the PC driven competition/business machine .
Its not as if footballers can go out and start making money just having a local kick to kicks with punters .
You cunts loved lighting when he was world champion..
Lightning McQueen ?!? . My micro gremmys love him !
This is the kind of attitude we need to avoid

Yes, he did drop in, but she also said that he was already sitting there on his board when she paddled out. So she snaked him and he dropped in? Anyway, the way they're riding there's room for plenty more on that wave and there probably was.
Is tony performing a wsl commentary "drop wallet" out there on the shoulder?
DeJa Vu
Unkle Bob got it:
Whole lot of people struggling tonight from the disease of conceit
Comes right down the highway straight down the line
Rips into your senses through your body and your mind
Nothing about it that's sweet
The disease of conceit
Whole lot of people seeing trouble tonight from the disease of conceit
Give you delusions of grandeur and an evil eye
Give you the idea that you're too good to die
The they bury you from head to your feet
From the disease of conceit
Conceit is the disease that the doctors got no cure
They've done a lot of research on it but what it is they're still not sure
The comment: "hoping for more of this at the Quiksilver Pro".... what, people being consistently burned?

Sounds like the pros burning the everyday surfers in the name of gettin the shot has come to an ugly conclusion here in the west yesterday. North point, full house, 60 guys, lots burning going on (pretty normal)Jay Davies roasted some poor punter but didn't make it, his board collected old mate in the face, horror show apparently .
Ouch.. sounds heavy.
aframeking insta...pic of yesday normal heaving northies
"A dingo took my wavey"
insta wankers need to grow the f up ,tone down their over inflated egos and show some respect toward their fellow human beings.
Davies has blatantly Burnt me before out there too. His "mate" shooting on a ski in the channel. The greedy bastard was getting more than his fair share that's for sure. I waited for that one for about an hour. Been surfing there since before he was born. He probably Jetted off to Indo or p-pass the next day. I went to work on a building site. Haha!
Need to start a thread burnt by a pro. Location, time and circumstances then have a surf journo contact them for their response to allegations.
Great idea Wharfy, but surf journos for the most part aren't real journos. They are sycophantic slaves of the surf brands employed to write advertorials disguised as articles, painting our "heroes" in an always positive light and selling the surfing dream that doesn't actually exist. So, not gonna happen. Don't wanna end their cushy career or miss out on a VIP pass to the next "connest" or party. I don't blame them really, would be a sweet gig (if you're into that sorta thing).

Over to you, Stu?
The wording "...for the most part..." gives me hope.
I've got faith in you Stu.
Sounds like the title of an R&B song, which is worrying.
Yo, I borrowed the beats from Usher.
Stu onto it dial up Jay Davies first up.
Maybe a coordinated raid on the pros instagram page on a designated Drop In Shame day
Say April 1. Each offending surfer who makes a living being a public figure is shamed on his own social media
Dean Morrison was a leg rope pulling cheat on tour. And a dead shit ever since
