Incarceration of First Nation's mothers is a Global Crisis.
Sorry! Seems a Treaty won't sort this most alarming Crisis...
Indigenous Incarceration % of Women Prisoners
3% pop / Oz : 32% of Prisoners (77% increase in 10 years)
4% pop / Canada : 42% of Prisoners (66% increase in 10 years)
17% pop / NZ : 67% of Prisoners (50% increase in 10 years)

Women's groups claim most sentences are trivial & keep being extending for similar reason...
The main aim being to separate Mother from Child for Certified Religious Prison adoptions"
'Unfit' mothers are persuaded to surrender bundles of Joy for a growing infertile World Market.
Yes! Scomo signed up Hillsong as Prison Psychs to shop out Miracles...We know it's best for the Baby!
Many of these Women reported DV > then get jailed for unpaid Speeding Tickets...until kid is secured.
Law: Child can't stay in "Risk" Settings (Translation!) Indigenous Home or Family...[Sign here!] > No kid/s!
Worldwide women's prison rates have doubled as infertility falls...all indigenous suffer from same fate!

In case the crew are wondering...Yes!
NZ / Canada's Indigenous youth / Male incarceration also represents well higher than Oz First Nation!
These Nation's have a Treaty that wallpapers over their "Frontline" indigenous crisis.

Rubber Stamping Racism!

Are Aussies Losing their Voice?
May ~ 73% (Loud & Proud)
July ~ 65%
Aug/Sept ~ 64% (Shaqadelic's fancy peace pipe blows the whole deal!)
Nov ~ Nats paddle ashore after the Shaq Attaq!
Dec ~ 53%

2022
Dutto ~ Play's his Wild West Welfare Card to bring on a bout of Mass Laryngitis
PM's approval & Voice dips beneath 50% > (National Crisis calls for the Lear Jet!)
Jan ~ 46% (Nation's Sacred Heart Scare > PM's Care Flight - performs Sacred Heart Surgery!)

Oz Treaty now sits under 50%...
Q: Will our Magic Treaty also wash away an even larger excused Indigenous Crime wave!
{Voice Pre ramble} Will be kept Plain & Simple in language all Aussies understand...Understand or else!
Treaty will mandate Secret Men's Business Media Blackout to play down Mass Indigenous Crime Surge.
Cool! All agree to disagree...Sorted!

The Lydia group have no chance of Australians accepting a Treaty without a gradual process, and although their points are valid in many ways, it just will not happen, a treaty that is. If the Voice does fail, it will also be a major political hit on the Albo government, one they may not recovery from with the outcome of another Coalition govt where any reconciliation talk will be lost. It happened with the Republic referendum and that opportunity was lost.

Cannot have perfect be an enemy of good, or at least an improvement of the current circumstances.

It appears that the Lydia groups are being very much appreciated by Dutton and his media mates. Sad.

Voice has already failed, thankfully.

That’s what I’d be doing if it was mine.

Optimist. Hi. How’s things ? They may have 50% under native title, but i can tell you, most aboriginal people don’t want to create friction or go through long winded processes to do the things you’d mentioned, they simply wanted and still want recognition that its their land and will always be their land, they just want folk to care for all biota that exists on that land, not too much to ask for don’t you think. Hardly. Its recognition of the traditional inhabitants. That’s only divisive if you want it to be.

Yeah, I'm no cheerleader for the Voice. Have stated my reservations elsewhere. But calling it divisive is a bit of a nonsense, also a bit hypocritical if it's coming from certain quarters.

I'm sure everyone's aware of the refrain from the cultural right that 'offence can't be given, it can only be taken'.

So if there's no such thing as 'being offensive', it's all about the response of the subject, then there's no such thing as being divisive either, it's all about the response from you, the subject.

Do you want the Voice to divide us..?

If you argue that it will then I'd politely suggest you analyse what other things you argue for lest you be a hypocritical wanker.

Gotta love the mass migration of tourist herds heading back to their homelands at the end of January..
Caravan parks emptying out to make way for the grey nomads. A non stop parade of oversized 4wds towing a jetski, van or boat heading south.
The contrast between this arvo and yesterday in my humble small town is amazing. Almost like an exorcism was done and the demons sent on their way.
There's room to swing a cat again.
The holiday seasons just make me appreciate the quiet times even more.
Not a locals only rant, just a bitch about the numbers in peak holiday periods. The infrastructure here doesn't handle it, like many places.

Prediction for the Voice -

There will be much gnashing of teeth, and fire and brimstone. Division will spread upon the land.

The vote will get up, surprising many by the healthy margins, especially those rib-ticklingly funny right wingers from the house of Murdoch.

All will continue on as though nothing has happened. The vast majority of the country, the non-indigenous part, will carry on with their lives just as they had beforehand.

Many will hold in their breast a quiet satisfaction that we didn’t take the low path.

happyppl Monday, 30 Jan 2023 at 03:30 am new

Tried posting earlier about an alice springs elders live skype interview at 6am last week sometime, being edited, censored at 7pm the same day and it did'nt go through?
My post pointed out how this respected local elder(voice) opinion was silenced...oh the hypocracy of it all.

happyppl Monday, 30 Jan 2023 at 09:39 am new

Aha! what i saw on abc 6am news last week was a live skype interview with an elder alice springs first nation gentleman who was dismayed at the behaviour in town, articulate and shocking, he was asked what he thought should be done...not his exact words but he said...ban all alcohol as before restrictions lifted last year, he then explained the children roam the streets from about 5pm to 9am causing mischief go home and tell the adults it's their turn to go out and make trouble...he said the children of those parents must be removed from them for their own good.
At 7pm same day abc news showed the same intrvw but only the bit where he said "children 5pm to 9am" ...not! the full intrvw no mention of booze ban or adults complicity or takeing kids off them.
So my point is this "voice"is about listening to community elders and yet this sincere dismayed local was censored, silenced and he is a first nation respected voice for his ppl...???!!!

"...“My general rule of thumb when it comes to deciding the correct policies, [which is] is to do approximately the opposite to what progressive thinking says we should do,” said the key advocate for the Voice to Parliament.

“Across the whole field – criminal justice, education, health, welfare reform, economic development – do approximately opposite to what progressive thinking says you should, and you will get it about right.”

Pearson argued poor and disadvantaged children – whose poor learning outcomes were highlighted in a recent Grattan Institute report and a Productivity Commission report showing billions of dollars in funding was having little effect – were particularly let down by the lack of explicit reading instruction.

“What do you think is going on in Alice Springs? That’s the product of failed learning, which is the consequence of failed teaching in the communities from which those kids come. And there’s no solution in sight,” he said.

“Yeah the middle-class kids, they do alright. They get through, they go to university. But it’s the kids I’m concerned about, the kids of the underclass.”..."

Probably....

I wonder if it is possible for victims and family's of victims who committed suicide to mount civil cases against the mentioned ministers if it is proved they continued the scheme knowing it was illegal and causing this harm (they did know and they knew people were killing themselves). Doesn't the minister have ultimate responsibility of their portfolio under our Westminster model?

It will be a horrible injustice if they do not face any consequences, they should lose their pensions at the very least, but yeah probably nothing will happen. Spot on Sky News maybe?
