First test v India starts today... feels like the first real cricket in a long time.
Any predictions?
Man of the Series. Joe Burns ;)
Seriously though, I just hope there’s a bit in the wickets. If they produce roads, it will be a boring bat-fest I reckon.
Yeah, I'm with you there.
They normally leave a bit of grass on for the day/night games so fingers crossed... might make Bumrah even more of a handful though.
I'm picking Cam Green to do well (100 runs over the match & a few wickets) and give the selectors a real headache when Warner's fit again.
Which channel on, is it free to air?
Always nice to have a bit of humidity and a pitch that will allow a bit of spin. A test with India is usually a big match too.
Indo I love the WSL panning the lineups... cos test cricket
Good start by the Aussies. Kohli looks to be settling in nicely. Could be in for a cracker. Yew!
Yeah finely poised. If we can get an early wicket or two in the twilight session it swing our way, but if Kohli and Pujara get set...
Starc been bowling amazing. Be great to see how it all lines up under lights. Enjoy Pops!
The Indian tailenders don't seem to have much interest in batting.
That capitulation by the Indian tail is going to hurt them big time. By the time the sun sets their ball is going to be pretty old.
If the Aussies can get through to stumps only a few down, there's a shitload of runs to be made tomorrow.
Looks like India could miss out completely bowling with a new pill at night.
Nominal 90 overs in a day (minus some for change of innings) so they might get a couple with the new pill before stumps. If we get through this little period ok we could be 250+ for not too many by then.
Bumrah and Yadav both looking right on the money though... Maybe pitching half a metre too short.
Still poor game management. Kohli would be wanting a new pill at night with his bowlers fresh.
I reckon Rahane may have been spoken to after running out the skip, getting out a short time later, and then blowing a review!!!
100% on Rahane. Game changing moment.
Though to get the new ball at night, they'd have had to be all out earlier, declared, or batted another couple of sessions. All unlikely.
Wade and Burns. A couple of bloody nervous Nellies if ever i saw. Crave the day's of Hayden and Langer dominating the opening. Never would have seen that back then. Nice drop by India just then. Phew!
Far out,..this is worse than the Trentbridge Ashes disaster a couple of years ago. Everytime i come back to see what's happening another wicket has fallen.
Yeah. Not normally until the 5th day.
Very disciplined bowling by the quicks on a pitch that looks a little two paced, Ashwin reaping the rewards (Aus not patient enough)
Very good bowling is killing the Aussies. Hat's off to India. Kohli took a screamer!
Great thread Pops, although I swear every time I check the score a wicket falls....
Yeah bit like that.
I love these low scoring armwrestles though.
If we can get to within say 40, it'll be a very interesting next few days.
Looking a bit less likely now. Last thing we needed was a runout.
I hope the selectors give Cam Green a few games to find his feet.. he looks the goods to me.
Yep looked very composed.
Hard decision for the selectors when Warner's back. Drop Burns, keep Wade opening and keep Green?
Yeah, hard one. I like something about Burns too, even tho he hasn't really delivered. I reckon he and Warner open fairly well. Bit of talk about Marcus Harris... not sure, but I could be proven wrong. Either way, give Green the opportunity to establish himself for a few games, could really build his confidence rather than deflate it if he's dropped too early.
And yeah, much better to have the game in the balance than a runs-fest..
How good is Test Cricket? Loved the first two days. Beautifully poised.....
For sure BD! A near perfect cricket wicket always helps. If you’re good enough, there’s runs & wickets to be had....
Realistically these are the two teams that should be in the final at Lords. Quality Cricket.
Whats the go with channel 7 with live scores on TV but no picture
who in their right mind would sit and watch something like that
absolutely ludicrous. Im not a huge fan of cricket but dont mind a bit
here and there. Disgusting ,un Australian and damn right insulting.
Its the 21st century not the 1930s. SHAME SHAME SHAME channel 7.
What're you getting at Evo? I've been watching it on 7, full coverage.
Play doesn't start again until 3pm though.
Spuddups, yeah I agree.
That'd be a very interesting game too - conditions outside either teams comfort zone.
They've been showing just a scoreboard on their online streaming platform, but I think that's because they don't have the online rights (kayo does I think).

I find this is a good way to keep up when have to be on PC and not streaming footage
Yeah I use a combo of Cricinfo and ABC radio when there's a test on & I'm in the office.
India 4/15! Cummins and Hazelwood bowling very good line & length and it's moving
It's almost the same ball moving off the seam... brilliant, McGrath type consistency for the Aussie bowlers
6/19 Kohli gone! - being reviewed
Did any of you tape off the side of a tennis ball for swing? We did one, and developed three short lengths of tape off it - would swing up to a metre for manic backyard cricket. I am sure Pops knows why it was so fun with the airflows!
Yeah loved doing that VJ.
Tape side moves faster through the air than the tennis ball (less friction), making it curve.
Given how the bowling is destroying batsmen, a lead of 72 looks a lot bigger than it is!
Boxing day test in Sydney + Sydney to Hobart: do these go ahead?
My fav sporting weekend each year!
True, but the pitch doesn't look that bad... We'll see.
I'm hearing new years test will go ahead, but might change venue.
Sydney to Hobart are playing it by ear.
And it course the boxing day test is in Melbourne!
Damien Fleming will be disappointed.
Green can no longer join him in the hattrick-on-debut club.
Got a hattrick in a primary school game, haha! I could legspin pretty well from early on.
9/31
This has to be one of the most thrilling sessions I have seen on test TV.
Was working in country Vic about 2003, stopped off for lunch at the cricket oval, it was Castelmaine vs Coleraine I think, saw 5 wickets fall in 20 mins, that was pretty epic
