Discussion about the
"Desert Storm" shaped by Wayne Webster
Ridden and designed by the "Camel"

[quote=Seabiscuit]Anyone ridden or have one of Webster's Wackos? They look great[/quote ………… a friend has one , he loves it , has a 2 board quiver 6’6 wacko and 7’ DS , rides the wacko in indo up to 6ft , he’s 65 so once it’s bigger likes the paddle power of the DS

Beaut - thanks Supa.

Was envisaging for good surf around that mark,

Anyone in VIC interesting in buying a near-perfect 6'2 DS?
Just haven't clicked with this vs my other boards so may look to offload

Price ? Fin System and other Dims.

Looks like it’ll be a stocky which are 6’2 19 1/4 2 5/8 35L and futures.

gilbert Wednesday, 24 Jul 2024 at 10:03 am new

Yep complete stocky in perfect condition but for 1 small ding on the underside from travelling in a board bag (thanks Qantas) which I can fix up. Not sure what the going rate is - maybe $450

lostdoggy Wednesday, 24 Jul 2024 at 10:26 am new

Perfect for a chunky day at beacon.

Bnkref Wednesday, 24 Jul 2024 at 10:47 am new

Nice looking board. $450 is about right.

Where are you based gilbert? Not for me but a mate blew a fin plug on a board yesterday and I think he might be retiring that board and potentially looking for a replacement. He's got a 6'8 DS and is a fan of them.

gilbert Wednesday, 24 Jul 2024 at 03:04 pm new

Located in Melbourne - don't really need to sell it but i just find myself surfing other boards more so figure it's better in the water vs in the shed! Awesome for when the beachies are big.

Got a nice 6'6 Vouch long fish twin and a 6'2 Corey Graham twin so a 6'2 DS just overlaps them too much. Epic travel board though and I'd take it over any of my other boards if I was going to the Ments or similar (I did last year, but swell didn't get big enough to need it). It's glassed very strong - feels like a tank and it'd last forever

Bnkref Saturday, 27 Jul 2024 at 01:34 pm new

Thanks gilbert. Mentioned it to my mate but he’s going to get his board repaired.

I’ve got a 6’6 DS in the slimmer version of the stock dims. Great board for me as a step up.

@udo , is the carbon rap strong enough to prevent pressure dings ? & does it only come in black ? What advantages does carbon wrap have over a standard board from ww

Hey Supy,
fwiw my 6'10 PuPe DS has six years and hundreds of rocky sessions on the clock, incl dry dockings and snapped leggies. Still looks 7/10.

Yes IB I have the fat 6’10 and it’s holding up well , just a few pressure dings from my feet and where Ive had a death grip on it , the 7’6 with heavier glass job I think is looking great still . They have both been getting plenty of use . About to hit the waves as here comes the pulse.

Island Bay Saturday, 10 Aug 2024 at 02:56 pm new

Nice one. Hope you score, mate!

Think this has been mentioned on here years ago.
My DS boards don't have any dents from my feet because DS boards are made with high density foam, and glassed with at least 2 x 6 Oz ,
2 x 6 Oz + 1 x 4 Oz or
3 x 6 Oz
(On the foot area )
This makes an incredible difference to the foot dent area! The boards look like new, kept in a board cover they can look in perfect condition after 10 years of use!

freeride76 Thursday, 5 Sep 2024 at 05:06 pm new

My 7'6" is like that- as new.

My 6'6" is glassed lighter and has some wear and tear denting- still, after 5 years of being absolutely thrashed it's in very good nick.

GuySmiley Thursday, 5 Sep 2024 at 05:26 pm new

I have a much loved and surfed Van Straalen fish that is still perfect after 12 years, Much gratitude Dick :)

chico Friday, 6 Sep 2024 at 10:47 am new

Yep solid glass job on my stock 6'8" DS - I'm in WA and honestly I must have ditched my board hundreds of times in 4-8ft waves. One small rail to stringer crease which I got fixed but other that it's been indestructible after 4 years of solid waves.

Bought a 2nd hand 7'0 DS about 18 months ago. Finally was able to use it last week with the bigger swell in Vic. Really nice board. Very happy with it.

Supa does your D.S. get much Attention from other Surfers over there in Indo ?

Supafreak Tuesday, 1 Oct 2024 at 08:30 am new

There are plenty of WW boards around indo , one spot that will remain unnamed , every second board was a a DS or spartan and a few wacko’s .

Few better things than going back to a trusty favourite after giving it a break for a wee while.
Surfed my 6'10 DS at very good Outsides this arvo and got clean barrels on my first two waves. Does not happen often for me!

Board felt so good and got compliments from a few out there (the board, not the pilot).

Last week I had my 6’10 ( fat version ) out in double overhead waves and guys were commenting on how I seemed to effortlessly paddle in to waves . It really is a favourite board of mine .

Supafreak Wednesday, 11 Dec 2024 at 04:17 pm new

@island bay , I remember you saying that you lost your board on the rocks and it handled it well. My legrope blew off my ankle under impact from a wave as I was straightening out , board ended up on the rocks and hardly a mark , just a couple of minor scratches. Farking good glass jobs .

Good times IB and Supa making me realise I need to stop mucking around and get my 6'10.

My 6'6 was that shade of blue and looked incredible.
