Alright, time for some discussion on what yr all listening too. My iTunes inventory is getting a little stale so I'm up for some inspiration.

Currently loving The Drones' album "Havilah".. incredible songwriting and some of the best recorded guitars and drum I've heard in a long time. I'm a little late to the party with this album but it's on high rotation at the moment and will probably stay there a while. I've seen these guys live once (Fowlers, Adelaide) and fortunately they're incredible on stage too. Can't wait to see them again.

I was listening to that 5 minutes ago Guy. Favourite track from one of my favourite bands.

"Bryan Ferry revealed this year that the eye patch he wore singing Love Is The Drug on TV was no fashion item: he'd walked into a door."

Far out!

To be able to play like Mark Knopfler...

Yeah 100% i got inspired to try to learn this solo acoustic, thinking if i just practice practice practice bit by bit i will one day nail it.

Lasted about half an hour trying, just makes you appreciate their skill and talent even more. (and this guys talent too)

Amazing clip though.

A not so well known Talking Heads song but what a roll of sound and live performance. Saw them live in Melbourne in 1984 on this tour - best ever concert by miles. He had his act even more advanced than in the concert film by then a did some of the weirdest, wildest body english moves in that out of control but in control way he has ....

back up singers are mesmerising too!!

Bonus points for the back-up chicks smuggling raisins.

Grace Slick - one of the greatest female vocalists ever...

Interesting lyrics.

For Frog and Zen......into the blue again.

Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by, water flowing underground
Into the blue again after the money's gone
Once in a lifetime, water flowing underground

A few years ago, think it was 2018, I bought tickets (like 6 months beforehand) to see Robert Plant (and the Sensational Shape Shifters) at the Sydney Opera House. Took the wife and two kids, late teens/early 20s by then and really into all sorts of music.

Probably the best concert I have ever been to, lived up to expectations which were hopefully high, and then some.

I am reliably informed that I saw the second best concert that year (that decade, century, millennium). From a number of people who saw both I was told that David Byrne’s concert a few months later was even better.

He’s a damned interesting artist, a genuine thinker and entertainer.

Love that song frog, know it well. What a day that was!

Hi Frog,
Did you get to see American Utopia when David Byrne toured a couple of years ago?
One of the best shows I've seen!

Boomer tbb must apologize for not sharing this 70's band sooner...
Band is called...( Lake ) & were unusually formed in Germany part UK.
Which led to Germany, Holland ,UK, US even Canada proudly adopting the band as their own.
US & Canada because Lake is smooth both by name & sound.

Australian Surfers & Folkies also warmed to the band...tbb recalls a handful to matter.
Aussies had to track this band down...Lake were not gonna flood our shoreline in any big way...What?
Safe bet to say that no Aussie ever heard or saw a Lake track on Oz Radio or TV... even to this day.

This was pre MTV so the World record export distribution was heavily bossed by Payola.
Oz never imported new Lake discs on order...most resourced the LP 2nd Hand in Boutique Record Bars.
Just on that note...This was a thing...(New n/a) Goldie had a few Record Bars importing Mint copies.
How Much? You'd need to fork out around $12-$14 to order a Mint "Lake" LP. (More than New!)
$100 in today's dollars...(WTF) Complete sham, even alt Records were massive in 1970's
Unclaimed 2nd hand import discs were slotted in-store (eg: $10 > $8 > $7 for tbb's still mint Lake copy)
No more than 10 copies on Goldie back then...but likely 100-200 taped copies = 500 Lake Fans!
Working Gromz could still afford A Board / Records / Magz but not Wetties / Leggies / Boardies / Wax.

Expensive soundbite meant band were never gonna reach equal acclaim of their 70's masterclass peers!
This answers why tbb hesitated with the skinny dip into the super smooth Lake...refection of our time.
Rare then, can equally be just as rare now!

tbb reserved the right to not review the Band's sound...No spoiler!
With the band being on the ultra down low...tbb can magically pass on same cool 70's Vibe to crew ...
Crew have the rare fortune to listen to Lake for the 1st time...sharing a golden 70's Surfers experience.
swellnet sounding board is the ultimate vessel to surf some Lake reverberation...

"Time Bomb"

"On the Run" (30 years on...Live is undoubtedly better than excellent!)

Even cooler number..."Scoobie Doobies"

Recommend the Lake YouTube Compilation as a follow up sampler
