Tunes

Alright, time for some discussion on what yr all listening too. My iTunes inventory is getting a little stale so I'm up for some inspiration.

Currently loving The Drones' album "Havilah".. incredible songwriting and some of the best recorded guitars and drum I've heard in a long time. I'm a little late to the party with this album but it's on high rotation at the moment and will probably stay there a while. I've seen these guys live once (Fowlers, Adelaide) and fortunately they're incredible on stage too. Can't wait to see them again.

R00ney Friday, 15 Oct 2021 at 01:06 pm new

Never got to see them Hiccups, always wrong place, wrong time for me.
Still wanting a Travis Bean (or anything with an aluminium neck)
Never heard a band that uses them that i don't like.
Time for some Melvins and Jesus Lizard!

I am at work and am restricted from YouTube here. Wish i could get these links and have a listen. My fave, by far, is Bruce Springsteen. But i like all genres.

How good was Springsteens 2019 Western Stars Album. Bloody beautiful

Yeah Bonza, it is. I like The Wild, The Innocent, and The E Street Shuffle

from my soundtrack of the 90s and 00s, one of the best ausi bands ever:

indo-dreaming Friday, 22 Oct 2021 at 07:49 pm new

I never use to like them, all my mates would flog them and i was more into the more obscure Indie stuff opposed to that whole drop D thing, but as time has gone ive really come to like a lot of their stuff, i saw them live a few times too, must say even when i wasn't a fan i thought they were great live.

One of my friends was dating the guitarist for a while so got on the piss one night with him at the Edge at Broadbeach, he kind of seemed a bit up himself though, i didn't like them at that stage so i had no interest in being a fan boy he was just another guy to me, but he wasn't overly friendly seeing it was only him and me that were the bros there, no loss though the girls were talkative.

Listened to a podcast interview with the lead singer the other month, I was surprised that he was brought up in a super religious family even use to be in a Christian band with his family members before Grinspoon.

blackers Saturday, 23 Oct 2021 at 06:17 pm new

Just dug this one out of the crate, vinyl and all. The early 80's were an interesting time.

Abmay Saturday, 23 Oct 2021 at 07:32 pm new

Hey Blackers, that Neutral Milk Hotel album is fantastic. I'm not sure where Jeff Mangum pulled all that from, I'm led to believe it was inspired by Anne Frank.

blackers Saturday, 23 Oct 2021 at 09:34 pm new

@Abmay, it’s a ripper isn’t it? That tune particularly has a lot going on in it.. Have read a bit about him, not sure even he knows where it came from. The album seems to have been his Harper Lee moment..

Abmay Sunday, 24 Oct 2021 at 04:43 pm new

I reckon I would struggle to find a better album in the 1990s. I've never given 'On Avery Island' a good listen but have seen it rated really highly by some. One day I'll give it some attention. So much music, so little time.

Solid Gold Slab of "_ _ _ _ _ _ "
Martinis ~ Hung Over > ( Album : Track 1 from Late Late Party )
Single Recorded 1965 Released 1967 by []BAR[] Records (Braddock Axton Rousell) Memphis
Band : Johnny Keys & Packy Axton (The Packers / The Pac - Keys)
Background...
JK: " When Packy got enraged, in a fit he'd yell ..."_ _ _ _ _ _"
During this Instrumental & when it came to the break, he'd yell " _ _ _ _ _ _"
Everyone except Estelle (Axton), laughed about it afterward, saying it sounded like he was throwing up!
Hence the title ..."Hung Over"
Estelle hated the yell, thinking it was uncouth and argued incessantly to leave it off the record...
This was one battle she lost...

swellnet crew salutes {Rare Funk On 45}...That sure is some solid gold Groovin'!
