Bizarre.....

Great advert for Macca's but ol mate Kennedy Jr has lost some cred health wise ..

Probably won him some cred in other quarters though. I hope he can make a difference, ameliorate the more malign aspects of the Food Industrial Complex and Big Pharma. But he’ll have to be careful how he goes about it. Won’t want to get too proscriptive. Start enforcing a different version of ESG. Seems people have had a gutful of that. Will be something of a litmus test for MAGA though. Whether they do have the will to stand up to the excesses of Corporate America in deed and not just word.

I always wondered what happened to Harris’s pledge to expose and punish price gouging. It was there one day. Then vanished. Never to be mentioned again. Seemed, in context. a good populist policy that she should have kept pushing. No stretch to imagine that George Soros and the Dem's C-suite donor class partners might have expressed their disapproval. Goodbye concern for the poor schmucks bearing the brunt of this late stage neo-liberal avarice. Wonder if the Dems will reconsider their deal with the Devil?

hey basesix

wasn't really being coy

(you talking about a few pages back?)

to be honest, I don't know any of these names you're dropping...

(I wasn't cool enough to be in the band scene - I was there, but not IN)

so I honestly don't when you're talking rock stars, or adelaide scene royalty...

I checked out that patience clip - but didn't have the patience to find the gold... I got no idea who they are...

which doesn't mean I wouldn't go, I'm just far away from adelaide atm, and generally have been for some time

anyway I apologise, I did mean to reply, but the boys got going with their back n forth

sorry, miggt have been fun... I know how difficult it is to round up the willing, when you're age-d...

It’s all very well to learn the lessons of history,
But there has never been anyone as intent on bringing down democracy , in US history ,as Trump ,aided and abetted so blatantly by a billionaire with a huge social media BS following.
It’s not a question of what to do before the next election, more about fighting back against Trump’s attempt at authoritarianism, so there is a next election.
He has floated the idea of running for a third time.

Local corner shop with home made patties, fresh lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle with beetroot with a touch of English mustard with the dead horse.
And no sweet brioche bun...
Go the wholemeal roll if possible.
Macca's, nah not food. Ha you can have it. ;)
Grill'd do a ok burger.
Side note, one of the best burgers I have had in recent times was the shop in Penong, really good if any one passing through cactus.

Yeah, unbelievable. Russia hit Ukraine hard over the last few weeks. I guess this is to slow the advance down and prevent the front from collapsing. But I’m not on board, this is a major escalation of the conflict that the rest of the world doesn’t need.

… yep, the typical trademark provocative strategic policies $old as ‘de-escalation’ ;)
(even before the election this change gave a green light to military contractors)

- President Joe Biden has long promised that the U.S. would not put military boots on the ground in Ukraine — other than service members detailed to the American Embassy in Kyiv — despite the administration providing more than $64 billion in aid since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine more than two years ago. The official said the American contractors would be working “far from the front lines” and would not be fighting Russian forces.

“They will help Ukrainian Armed Forces rapidly repair and maintain U.S.-provided equipment as needed so it can be quickly returned to the front lines,” the official said of the contractors. Each contractor or organization that successfully bids on the maintenance contracts will be responsible for their own safety, the official added.”

I wonder how many people genuinely fear Biden deploying US troops into Ukraine? It surely played with some people's minds leading into the election. Contractors are ok, missiles are ok...Sounds like dancing around the edges, waiting for a reason to get involved.

One of your many problems burley is that you complain about extreme left stuff, stuff that any balanced person would be suss with. Identity politics, minoritarian equality etc etc is important when NOT taken to the extreme. You're so extreme right that you can only see extreme left and then get all flustered about it. Drag queens reading stories, so what, men wanting to be pregnant, now we're getting stupid. It's like woke, it's just about social justice but when taken to the extreme, like anything, it becomes stupid and nutty. Drag queens simply reading stories vs drag queens grooming yr kids for some library action. Yr always too extreme burley. Stop being such a rightwing hysterical reactive and leave extremism where it belongs... on the lunatic fringe on both wings.

Totally understand how many people - myself included - don't want to eat Maccas, but sometimes (for example, driving home at 2am from a gig), there are very few options available. And these days they have a reasonable selection of wraps etc, and the coffee is OK.

But... if Trump can afford to operate "Trump Force One" as it's colloquially known, surely his team can arrange a sushi platter or a salad for his guests in advance? Y'know, specifically for the bloke who wants to "Make America Healthy Again".

Ironically, I assume by the time the Maccas delivery got to the plane, those burgers and fries were probably lukewarm and soggy anyway. Urrgghh.

Thanks for thinking of us Stu.
A couple of things spring to mind.
It has parallels in the UK with how Labor got back after years of conservative rule under Thatcher and Major. The tories then were a mess for years until the Labor team dissolved into hubris. Rinse and repeat.
The same things were said about the Republicans when Clinton got in, and then after Obama. They went through the whole Tea-Party meltdown etc.
Seems that what goes around comes around, if you can get a message that resonates and people who are unhappy enough with their lot, bingo. Like Lazarus with a by-pass.

Hang on... he's saying that Ukraine has historically been a part of Russia for centuries, and therefore seems to be suggesting that Putin has a right to wage this war ? Historically that may be the case HOWEVER Ukraine has declared its own Sovereignty and has decided that it wants to be part of greater Europe now! And why not, especially when a murderous dictator wants to call the shots. Putin is capable of anything. My prediction is everyone will wait until Donny Incompetence gets in then and then all bets are off. Zelensky saying Trump will end the war?? What?? Putins come this far, killing how many people so far??, he ain't backing off. Xies rubbing his hands looking over at Taiwan. Little Rocket Man wants to teach South Korea a lesson. Once Twumpy gets in and the USA weakens to a former shadow of itself, the gloves will come off. Mark my words pundits.
Of course this latest Biden development could be a way of keeping Trump out of the whitehouse... just escalate the situation into a full blown war and declare state of emergency... sorry Trump.

andy-mac Monday, 18 Nov 2024 at 02:21 pm new

All the politics and propaganda and who's side ya own aside.
Putin made it clear there was a red line of NATO expansion east, if crossed he would invade.
He did.
Now he has said if those missiles are used against the Russian homeland that would mark be a declaration of war, with the possibility of nuclear retaliation.
You decide if he's bluffing and what the consequences may be.

And as far as sovereignty goes, the USA has never ever meddled in the internal affairs of other countries....
And I'm sure they would accept a Chinese military base in Cuba.
