Don't think there's a forum thread for random surf clips to share...so here goes.

Downwind foiling (with no kite - just wave power). A whole new aspect to foiling where you can surf the open ocean well away from crowds and no need to annoy surfers at point breaks to get long rides. Quite amazing.

Never worry about crowds again. The learning phase looks tough. After watching some videos of learners, it is something to get right into - not dabble if you want get over the learning hump.

But for surfers struggling with crowds or living in the many not so surf blessed locations (or at foil-perfect waves like Byron) - it is out there if you want it. Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne etc.

I have ridden those windswells on a surf ski getting 100 metre rides well offshore. They are more exciting than they look. Lots of little bowls form endlessly that offer acceleration and even drops out of the lip. I used to think about how it would be to ride them on a board (but an impossibility unless they are 15 foot long) but then foils made it possible.

At my age, not sure if I can face the learning phase but who knows.... Designs of boards and the foils are improving all the time reducing the skill factor.

Foiling is great, you should definitely persist with it. I am foiling with a wing which is a bit different but still quite amazing. It turns the crappiest days (well, were crappiest days before) into something special. Anyone who spent time on the ski slopes will probably fall in love with the foil. The feeling under the feet is incredible + you have the ability to move in nearly 360-degree directions which opens a whole new range of possibilities. I love the wing part as well because you can boost some sick airs (not there yet but working on it), this is a cool video showing what can be done (this guy is really good, definitely not an average rider):

A trip with a plan B everyday. This struck a chord with me. Beautiful scenery. Big ups to the man in trunks.
Dinner would have been great every night!

I still can’t work out how the board actually snapped, any ideas ?

stunet Monday, 12 Dec 2022 at 10:47 am new

Board on one side of the surfers' body, legrope on the other, and the guy is moving at a rate of knots. Something has to give, either the legrope or the board.

Supafreak Monday, 12 Dec 2022 at 10:51 am new

Ahhh ok thanks for that

Sunny Coast movie. Many stories. Lowlights being the use of “like” every second word. Highlights being the younger generation have much to give and are motivated and enjoying life. R.I.P. one young man.

This vid starts well with a awesome barrel and huge air but by the second song is a bit average, still worth a look though.

This would have to be one of the best sessions ever for ripping wild big bowly waves. Some amazing moves.

I love watching KL navigate around chop and lumps and at 1.20 minutes mark trying to punch through the back was a top effort.
