And here's some Mundaka magic from November last year. I was watching the camera live and taking screenshots and sending the pics to my goofyfoot mates. .
Looked so insane. This would be the best footage i've seen of Mundaka i reckon. Some big round caves to be had. Volume optional and a little too much slowmo but worth hanging in there for the jewels that some of the crew tackle. Wider than they are high! Pretty sure this was the same day Nazare went massive.

When it comes to the videos from Morocco that section from the Sipping Jetstreams is a classic. The vibes, music, epic surf…It’s still a benchmark for prospective video makers. Just look at the difference in quality between this and wanna be Instagram/YT influencer video. And Sipping Jetstreams was released in 2006, 17 years ago!? Crazy.

How could this man just have lost his sponsor? So many bland little shoulder hoppers have good contracts, and here's Albee at the absolute vanguard of big wave surfing with none.
Because those at the top don't want things shaken up or to relinquish the control of the corporate monopoly they hold. He and many others are pushing themselves and the sport forward regardless. They are only getting bolder, stronger and wiser.
Jaws as we have seen is another level paddling. They are a less conformist kind of surfer out there. It shows in how they surf and how they express themselves. A breath of fresh air and fantastic to see it unfolding both in skill and telling it like it is. Do you really want to grovel and have your strings pulled or find and see the new limits being pushed into the future?.
Albee and like minded crew have and are, regardless what anyone thinks or of the dollars being thrown up. They are going no matter what and you can't put a price on that attitude or skill. It's another level to the corporate machine that plays out around them whilst pulling various strings. Their surfing and attitudes will always speak volumes. Sponsorship allows crew to chase yearly swells worldwide in some cases, but maui is still front and centre when it fires. Albee shines and charges regardless As do many others that machine surpasses, spits out and devours.
I just love the fact they go, and go again, Thats what its about. The $$$ are just a distraction and an illusion of opportunity from the few who obtain it. Money cant buy what these guys are pushing into. They already have it, anything else that comes their way is a bonus. To me that has always been the beauty of this type of surfing, everyone pays at some point regardless of contracts and with persistence everyone get rewarded in their own unique way regardless of sponsors. It comes down to the individual skill set and mindset at the specific time and day. Brilliantly pure, untouchable and purely individualistic in varied approaches. Albee and many are going to go. Before and into the future. fantastic stuff. Island bay that footage is a very nice example. Hawaii has been epic this year as it so often is. With many a moment regardless of the machine.
