Scouting for Chopes footage and came across this podium scene from the '98 Gotcha Pro, the first QS there.
Conan Hayes and Koby Abberton were in the final with the top two places being read out. That's not Conan going to pick up his trophy, instead he's leaving the stage in disgust, claiming a rip off from judges.
What a great little report.

Looks like Conan has ‘risen again’ amidst the controversy of the ‘stolen’ 2020 US election - at least according to the good folk over at BG.

I remember Chris Stroh, he went to Hurstville High school and was in the same grade as a mate of mine.
We met up with him when on a holiday at Noosa and we decided to do a trip along the beach up to Double Island Point.
Stroh and his mates had a Valiant and my mates had a VW bug and a Mazda bongo van, fun adventure, we stopped and had a surf about halfway, we also had a few dramas getting around the Cherry Venture, never got to see DIP on that trip.

Mavericks Jan 10th . Some find big wave footage boring , personally I find it fascinating to watch the paddle in , rescues and interviews of what they personally go through. Look forward to part 2 when they are towing.
