Season starting this week so we need a thread to document Collingwood's run to its it's 17th premiership and the year Nick Daico's wins his first of four brownlow medal's.

southernraw Saturday, 3 May 2025 at 08:37 pm new

hahaha. That's gold! Acttually had a funny chat about the whole Nullabor thing with some mates yesterday. Extend it...take some, leave some....same same. Big! Very big! Everyones a winner.

indo-dreaming Sunday, 4 May 2025 at 07:54 am new

Well that sucked especially being so close to a fairytale finish.

Only good thing is i tipped Cats in footy tipping while the others at the top tipped Pies. (and all other games the same)

I told you cats are our boogy team, i think this is kind of the loss we had to have, im positive on next week against Fremantle even if its in WA and after only a 6 day break, i think we will now bounce back and be more hungry from the loss.

GuySmiley Sunday, 4 May 2025 at 08:53 am new

Whether or not the pies and/or Freo have a RHG next week it will make for good viewing as we're not going to hear BAAAALLLLLLLLL every other second unless of course Jetstar have a afterpay arrangement with Centrelink's largest client base!!

blackers Sunday, 4 May 2025 at 08:56 am new

That was a great game, both teams gave it everything and it went down to the last second. It felt fitting, if the pies were going to get up, that Crisp would kick the sealer. But not to be, thank jeebus. Too far out, too tired. No real losers on the night, other than the LNP that is.

Great game. Cats deserved winners.
Again, as I’ve said before, kicked inaccurately earlier on. How is it that guys like Miochek whom I love , can kick bomb goals from way out and then miss set shot goals from within 20m of goals. I hate to say in but in the second half Dangerfield was a machine. AW

One for @adam12, thought you'd enjoy this read in light of recent conversations ;-)

Ha! @Southern, the Tao of Dangerfield, and the Zen of Dusty! Some good lines in that blog, "Dangerfield is what would have happened if Gary Rohan and a tank (rather than a physio) had a baby."
Two great players hey.
Great to see Danger playing so well, champion players at their prime make any game they are in worth watching. (He surfs so I wonder if he is on SN and reading our conversations about him, if so...Patrick, you are a gun mate, on and off the field, two more flags and three Norm Smiths and you might go up on my wall next to Dusty, my grandad, KB and Captain Blood.)
Hope you are cruisin' not losin' @Southern.

Another Pieformance.

Next ……..AW

indo-dreaming Friday, 9 May 2025 at 08:18 am new

Yeah another 4 points and done without some key players, but we were pretty lucky they were so inefficient in their FW 50 while we actually kicked straight for once.

IndoDreaming. Hi. Hope ya well.
Another win for our machine.
Good kicking by Elliot

Besides him, we were woeful in front of goal, particularly and relatively close to.

Pull my hair out still with the ridiculous misses, we relentlessly let sides back into the game on a regular basis.

Bobby Hill, Nick Daicos, Lachie Sullivan , there were others , but just to name a few. All the best. AW

indo-dreaming Friday, 9 May 2025 at 02:23 pm new

You are a hard man to please:D

I thought we were a lot better in front of goal and just going inside 50

Goals/behind 15-7

Elliot 6-2
Bobby 3-1
Nick 1-1
Crisp-2-0
Mason 1-0
WHE 1-0
Ned long 1-0

Sidey, Membery, Sulivan all 0-1 though (was Sideys a set shot?, i cant remember)

And that was from 34 inside 50's (they had 62)

And we had 14 marks inside 50 they only had 6

And almost all the other stats were way in their favour, some by a decent margin, for instance they had 75 more disposal's

Im real happy with the win, when i saw the big outs and 5 day break and away on their home ground, i didn't think we would win.

Could b a smoky for another brownlow this year. Thats gotta put him into dusty territory. Could b the same year he is a premiership skipper and wins a normy...which probably should b his second when u rewatch that GF but i was glad Isaac Smith won for my bank acc!!
Yes! Have surfed w the great man on the surf coast but kept my head down in the presence of royalty.
As to above comments about indos loyalty to the pois...could have had some epic poi memorabilia courtesy of A12s generous offer...which makes u wonder...do you really Poi @indo???

Dude you have to let me out of your head it's not healthy

Im not sure how "we" is royal ?

"We" as in fans and club every single pies fan young & old, male female, no matter ethnicity, religion, sexual preference, whatever all "side by side" that's the Collingwood culture

I have been to games but no I dont go regularly its' more a novelty thing, and honestly while the atmosphere is great and the MCG is mind blowing in scale in real life, i actually prefer to watch games on TV as can see everything and no commentary at games kinda sucks. (yeah i know you can put on headphones and stream), was a member one year but kinda pointless if you dont go to games.

I watch every game i can but often miss games if in Indo, although smart phones have at least made it possible to follow things in some way.

I watch every game possible no matter if we are bottom of the ladder or top of the ladder and even if we are 50 points down with 5 minutes to go i try to watch until the end.

Loved the Pies as a kid, but i did go through a very long big chunk of my life where i didn't follow AFL, it was only grand final parties/BBQ's when id watch it, I guess it was because i was way too cool for school that whole skate, surf, punk, art, alternative culture thing, where i saw AFL as like a jock thing, it wasnt until after i was married and living on Fraser Island with Foxtel that i got back into things, not sure how or why really, not a lot to do on Fraser Island other than fish surf shit waves and go bush, maybe that was it.

blackers Friday, 9 May 2025 at 06:53 pm new

It was a cage rattling end. Lachie Schultz getting KO'd made it tough, as did Jamie Elliot spraying his last couple. Freo were poor from midway the first quarter to the last. What's with Nick Daicos' hamstring? Looked sore.

indo-dreaming Friday, 9 May 2025 at 06:59 pm new

That KO looked heavy he looked very dazed and confused.

The controversial point in the Geelong game which was clearly a goal to Lachie Schultz from a different perspective shows a gap between ball and hand the size of the Grand Canyon. How can four umpires get it so wrong ? . Every backman calls touched hoping it goes their way.
Put Blicsavs on a lie detector, he’d fail for sure. Go Pies. We will meet you all in the last few weeks of the season, not getting ahead of ourselves, just extremely confident. AW

Hi SR mate.

Good sport- we all love the banter. Your Bombers are tracking ok, pity about those earlier injuries you’ve succumbed to.
You guys are still getting good waves and we are also. Day 5 tomorrow and then it drops away to 3ft . Has been great weather and waves.

At the time i was like oh no that sucks it's clearly a goal from the footage shown, it should have overturned the umpires call.

Then the game ended, and i didn't click until a few days latter when people were still whinging on social media that if the correct call had been made we actually would have won.

Which kind of sucks, they just should have a lot better tech and cameras they have a huge budget and it's 2025.

Argh yeah, we might have to wait another year to make a final, 2 to win one. Who knows but should be a public holiday if we do!
Yeah concerning that it's 30 in mid May. And no sign of letting up.
Not complaining though, like you said, endless swell, offshores, blueskies, 21degree water and more of the same to come. Stoked to hear you've been scoring from this ripper of a swell 'event' we just had!!

Fair but you can always find many incident's throughout a game that could have gone either way....and the Pies are the last team that should ever be allowed to complain about the umpiring!!! I thought they were on your list...in your best on ground most weeks!!!

Blues best on ground tonight clearly the same 4 that get the Pies over the line in the close ones.

It seemed like that early doors but settled more fairly in the second half I feel. It was a hard watch after quarter time. Reckon Ross Lyon teams are the dullest and most grim going around.

btw haven't got a live stream but looks like a cracker in the showdown. Crows 50 to Port 45 at half time. Carn Crows!!! And Suns are up by a coupla goals against the bulldogs late in the third quarter. Wish at least one of the games was on free to air. Both look like cracking games.

GuySmiley Saturday, 10 May 2025 at 10:52 pm new

G’day @AW, weee are always thinking technique over weight weee are: 4 seconds up, hold for two, 4 seconds down, hold for 2, repeat!

Wearing the jumper is a running joke at the gym: the PTs support the pies, blues and the tigers and oddly enough I've never heard them utter the magic weeeee word !!

blackers Saturday, 10 May 2025 at 10:53 pm new

Crows by 5 in the end, great hustle by the Power to get so close. Suns by 10, doggies gave it a nudge.

southernraw Saturday, 10 May 2025 at 11:24 pm new

Great results all around @blackers...except for the travesty today on the gc at Burleigh Heads.
Now just a cats win and a tiger win for you to see the weekend out...ahh shit, unless theyre playing each other!
SToked to see Goldcoast doing so well. They're definitely my fourth team after living up there for many years. Would love to see them dominate the comp for a while like the lions did when i lived up there. I even went to the Lions street parade in Brisbane after their third....and still can't recall why!

indo-dreaming Monday, 12 May 2025 at 06:53 pm new

Hows yesterdays Brisbane - North Melbourne draw.

How on earth did that happen? between number one on the ladder and second last on the ladder.

Draw's always suck but Kangaroo supporters all fifty of them must have still been stoked.

southernraw Monday, 12 May 2025 at 08:07 pm new

Listened to it on the radio while i was doing shit in the yard @indo and it was a cracker! Shame Roos didn't get up but had a feeling Hobart might b a booby trap for the Lions. Was some cracking games yest. Caught a bit of the Eagles game and damn, good close game and unlucky the young fella got a rush of blood in the last few seconds and got run down. Great tackle though! Bet @adam12 was jumping through the roof on that one!
And the bloody Catters!! Urgh....so close. Hats off to GWS though. 5 from 5 at the Cattery. Who does that!!?
