Here's a preview from my Adelaide band Diplomat - first release we've had in over 13 years! We've got a split 12" due out early next year.
Cool Ben, wish I had something to post but our lead guitarist chopped the tip of his little finger off so we are taking a break, but definitely going to do some recording when he recovers.
Ben , add that track to a surf flick and I'd be singing it - badly- for days.
Finally one of the best bands ever is back with a new song <iframe width="560" height="315" src="

Diplomat is back! Cool bananas.
As for the drive-in music, reminded me of Nation of Ulysses from an age ago. Happy daze.

It's interesting and often quite surprising how radical a band really is when you see and hear them live. Yew!

Fitting band, what with the Norwegian photos currently on the homepage. Good music to psyche for slabs.
On the Turbo tip, these dudes are washing up on our shores round April (apparently)...strap yourself in...

Anyone seen that flick, A Serbian Film? Nasty...
Speaking of nasty, these blokes are definitely touring this year. 40th anniversary tour! Sheesh!

i saw the damned 30 years ago, at selinas. great show. not a great night though. bad, very bad things went down.
40th anniversary??? looks like we are year behind in oz.
and now for the greatest punk song...neat, neat, neat.

i could really go a mandrax and fall down the stairs at frenchs, one last time.
Cool. Also on an old time tip, I watched Autoluminescent, the Rowland S. Howard doco last night. Made by Richard Lowenstein of Dogs In Space fame. It's a little staid in structure with no narration and the speaking parts being simple 'subject in front of camera' scenes.
But still, a bunch of noted musos came and offered their take on Howard ("He was like Rimbaud dragged out of Africa and given a guitar," said Hank Rollins who was suprisingly well versed in the lore of Melbourne music circa late-70s), while Nick Cave mused at length on their creative relationship, which ultimately fell apart when they were living in Berlin. "Rowland took London personally, as if someone built it just to make him unhappy. But then he may have taken the whole world that way."
Howard himself, despite supposedly being well read, lacks the oratory skills of Cave or Rollins, but the live footage is superb.
"and now for the greatest punk song"...
Nay...not even the greatest Damned song.
And did the Saints rip off that film technique for Know Your Product?
nice call stu. "smash it up" is so, so good. and those lyrics --"smash it up till there is nothing left" -- are words to live by.
C'mon fellas, there's enough good Damned out there for every taste. My first album pick (and vote for greatest Damned song at the very least...and about the nth time it's been featured on this thread, but hey, there's always room...)

Stux, was that Saints video BEFORE the Damned one?
Cool Rowland S. Howard doco too...always forget to search for his solo stuff round the traps.
Wot?! TT plays the peacemaker?
Sorry mate, if you can't argue over art then what good is it?
we were arguing? i thought we were having a mutual love fest for the damned.
Yes! Amen! Youse guys...

(In which YouTube user and goddamned genius Jim Haney takes Diamond Dave's vocals-only track from Van Halen's “Runnin’ With the Devil” and lays it over the top of an edited version of Can’s “Mother Sky.”)
I heard about that happening at the Dinosaur Jr show this week! So good to see some footage of it.
Cool, love Dinosaur Jr especially with Lou back on bass, also love that GOD song an Aussie classic.
Also love interviews with interviews with Jay he is the most laid back cat ever.
Just saw Nick Cave in Brisneyland. Damn that was good. The lyrics. The noise, the energy everything. Just beautiful. Made me sit back and enjoy the fact that I was in a bland humid city miles from the coast.
He didn't play this but it's one of my favourite live tracks from anyone. The recorded version is epic too I reckon.

Yep I was there too for the Nick Cave experience and what an experience it was. Full sensory overload.
He can be so intense and it was easy to be swept up in the whole show. Exceptional band as well . Get along to see him if you can!

Alright, time for some discussion on what yr all listening too. My iTunes inventory is getting a little stale so I'm up for some inspiration.
Currently loving The Drones' album "Havilah".. incredible songwriting and some of the best recorded guitars and drum I've heard in a long time. I'm a little late to the party with this album but it's on high rotation at the moment and will probably stay there a while. I've seen these guys live once (Fowlers, Adelaide) and fortunately they're incredible on stage too. Can't wait to see them again.
