I heart WOTD
I saw it too and mysteriously the caption changed! Yesterday this mysto, unknown, secret break was named but today this breaks name and location is preserved by a very cryptic caption.
Ha. Nice work Stu.
Stu, some caption suggestions to keep this place a secret.
Winds over New swell Castles.
Offshore Merry Weather.
Picks on Dark.
Stu, I will clarify.
It is obviously mid coast SA. Consinstantly breaks like that.
1st suggestion is The Hump
2nd is the river mouth.
3rd is Glenelg jetty.
Hope that clears it up. :)
Hali, agreed. Always good to see an awesome place firing and unridden.
Lets the mind do the surfing (cause my mind surfs a shit load better than I do).
Bosko's shots of sunset are unreal, they really do dwell up some ancient urge.
Merry Christmas Shoredump
Same to everyone out there.
Had the most impressive lightning / thunder any one had ever seen for the first 4 hours of Xmas day.
Santa would have been toast if he'd flown threw it. Thousands and thousands of lightning flashes / bolts. I spoke to an 84 year old fella and he's never seen anything remotely like it. He thought the world was ending !
If it's been in Sydney itd be on every front page.
Still no power.
Seafoods all on ice ....not for long !
Best of luck to all .
All the best to you too Blowin', keep the posts coming, you're always worth reading- you and Gary G. I've been a bit dormant the last few months so hopefully I'll ramp it up again next year.
Merry Christmas Swellnetters, hopefully 2018 will be a banner year for waves for all of us.
And remember (and I've quoted this before)- 'as surfers, we are defined not by the lands that divide us, but by the oceans that connect us.'
Nice thought there zen, hope you and all the other regulars celebrate the solstice appropriately!
Nice words fellas. And great quote Zen!
Another view of today's burn..

Awesome shot today...what a great feeling that is...solid deep water wave, trusty big wave steed under the feet, paddled and committed to the drop, surging adrenaline in that frozen moment of in between, wondering will I land this, will the fins grab, will the rail set?? Endless questions, possibilities and outcomes...magic!
PS. Shan Glasson...was that the young girl you did a profile on a few months ago?
Yep. I have a feeling she took it down too, snapping her board...though someone may be able to correct me if I'm wrong.
And yeah crg, Shan is the Cronulla photog we profiled a few months back. Shoots Shark Island, Cape etc.
Reckon you're right Stu - think this is the same session...https://www.redbull.com/au-en/tayla-hanak-takes-on-south-australia
Same session that a bomb caught Rossy inside and snapped his 8'6 Fletcher C like a twig and left him swimming in the impact Zone
Taylas $1400 wave ... had a chat to her about it last week ... she now knows not to take anything at the bombie from deep with an east peak ... live and learn.
No fear, it's in the DNA ... her dad told me of the time he came off his moto doing 180kph during the Fink Desert Race ... woke up in hospital, finds out he's in Alice ... all good he figures cause if he was badly injured he'd be in Adelaide. Just one of his death defying moto crashes while racing ... he charged in the surf too.
I've been in the water with Tayla as she's taken a two wave hold down at 8' Bullies, from take off to shorie in one breath.
Today's photo has a mesmerising wave, tropical colours, all the promise of an exotic barrelling dream and......... another jet ski pest
Amazing photo no doubt. Given this wave's remote local its a shame that it seems to be on of SN's most posted WOTD.
Supply and demand, staitey. We don't commission WOTD content, we simply have a great network of photographers who send through images as they deem fit, and we then select which ones to publish based on a number of factors.
As for the jetski in this photo, it's worth pointing out that (as far as I am aware) it's used as a tender and a photographic platform, not a whip-in machine... hence the caption.
Yeah fair enough Ben. I'd imagine not many East Coast WOTD's filtering through these past few weeks!
Got to be grateful that Chris Peel has decided to focus his exploitive lens on this single peak .
Think of all the worlds empty line ups he could be forced to sell to put the extension on his house if this one wasn't his alone to promote , promote , promote , promote , promote etc etc
ha ha...It's crazy how many times his pics of this wave have been run, no exaggeration its got to be ten times or more by now?
haha yep and it's gotta be one of the shortest rides ever....gets stale pretty quick.
Yeah GF I’ve seen a pic before of two mates splitting the peak. FWIW I think it’s a beautifully composed surf photograph, and I’m yet to tire of them. I’m old enough to remember when the Mike Mondragon Sunset barrel was the best surf shot going
I truly believe that my heart would explode in my chest through fear if that was me paddling around out there.
BTW - That's not Boris the hangman from Blazing Saddles on the SUP in the foreground is it ? I always wondered what happened to him .
Nice contrast to yesterday - 50 foot heart starter (heart stopper?) to 2 foot fluffball.
Taj is looking trim, too.
Today's foto is cool. I like seeing chunky waves being ridden on ungainly equipment. Watch you don't catch that nose rail!
That'd be right! I finally find a foto to dig and it's wrecked by the ubiquitous 3 amigos.
The wave of the day does it for me big time. Nice work Steen Barnes , Shaun Anderson and Swellnet.
In one photo you've encompassed everything nice about surfing. If I was a wanker I'd say that it was perfect except for the fact he is in a wetsuit. Which it is , it's perfect .....except for the fact he's in a wetsuit.
