I heart WOTD

Blowin started the topic in Wednesday, 30 Jul 2014 at 08:07 am

The wave of the day does it for me big time. Nice work Steen Barnes , Shaun Anderson and Swellnet.
In one photo you've encompassed everything nice about surfing. If I was a wanker I'd say that it was perfect except for the fact he is in a wetsuit. Which it is , it's perfect .....except for the fact he's in a wetsuit.

bluediamond Thursday, 19 Nov 2020 at 06:43 pm

Unmistakable wotd. Wouldn't be surprised if you were parked behind the curtain on that one FG.

Seymour Scagnetti Friday, 20 Nov 2020 at 11:46 am

Balterra !

Seymour Scagnetti Friday, 20 Nov 2020 at 11:56 am

Still reckon the right looks hollower FG! He probably is BD. Stouts in the carpark after a day like that no doubt !?

factotum Friday, 20 Nov 2020 at 04:42 pm

Of course the right is hollower, SS. 2nd reef left is an easier takeoff and all.

Hee hee.

Fraser G Friday, 20 Nov 2020 at 05:57 pm

Sure it is....ha

factotum Friday, 20 Nov 2020 at 11:43 pm

Pfft

Nick Bone Saturday, 21 Nov 2020 at 08:08 am

Top that!

crg Monday, 23 Nov 2020 at 07:12 pm

Like the pulp fiction reference today...

zenagain Monday, 23 Nov 2020 at 07:30 pm

Ha CRG, that only just occurred to me.

"I gotta stab her three times?"

crg Tuesday, 24 Nov 2020 at 07:53 am

If you’re alright say something...
Something
That was f*cking trippy

Classic scene

Pops Thursday, 26 Nov 2020 at 12:02 pm

Cracker today - how much fun does that thing look!

chook Thursday, 26 Nov 2020 at 12:11 pm

so much fun...i'll take the left.

goofyfoot Tuesday, 1 Dec 2020 at 07:26 am

Shallow reef incoming

Craig Tuesday, 1 Dec 2020 at 07:27 am

Yeah looks like he's committed to the gurgly inside reef closeout.

Bnkref Tuesday, 1 Dec 2020 at 09:48 am

If it's where I'm thinking of, it's a sick wave. Only surfed there a few times over the years but I don't remember it having that gurgly inside section.

stunet Tuesday, 1 Dec 2020 at 09:55 am

I reckon it's a bit of backwash causing the lip to pitch that way. In a fraction of a second there won't be as much space.

MidWestMonger Tuesday, 1 Dec 2020 at 11:19 am

If its where im thinking, (LH, N'es, LU) Dave Mac (and others)pretty much re-wrote the playbook on what reefs are unsurfable on what tide along there. He was the first I saw surfing the hideous looking set up directly below the carpark

MidWestMonger Tuesday, 1 Dec 2020 at 11:29 am

Brisk off shore at the peak behind. Looks like someones getting ready to dive for crays.

I focus Tuesday, 1 Dec 2020 at 01:52 pm

Great angle, classic raw conditions, lots going on in that frame, hopeful duck dive, guy about to bail, inside barrel, great photo Mr Manson.

factotum Tuesday, 1 Dec 2020 at 03:47 pm

Artfully cropped/framed. Keep the dream alive! Hah!

Ape Anonymous Wednesday, 2 Dec 2020 at 10:56 am

Da Claw right centre!
What a monster wave.

stunet Wednesday, 2 Dec 2020 at 11:17 am

It is too. Good pick up.

MidWestMonger Wednesday, 2 Dec 2020 at 05:06 pm

If that's a council ute in frame, the men (women) at work title is at odds with the foreground but very apt for the background

ilikelamb Friday, 4 Dec 2020 at 09:57 am

That view never gets old.

mattlock Friday, 4 Dec 2020 at 10:20 pm

Great shot today. That one definitely makes the "Lineups" coffee table book I've been thinking about for the last 30 years.

shoredump Saturday, 5 Dec 2020 at 06:28 am

You can easily make it for yourself. For personal use it’s as harmless as a mix tape from the 90s

D-Rex Saturday, 5 Dec 2020 at 05:37 pm

Loved yesterday's west coast line-up (first surfed that wave 1978). Did anyone else have Jay Moriarity flashbacks with today's shot?

D-Rex Monday, 7 Dec 2020 at 10:22 pm

Hello, hello, hello? Is there anybody in (out) there? Just nod if you can hear me.
Is there anyone home?

Jono Tuesday, 8 Dec 2020 at 09:21 am

Surely one of the best WOTDs ever?

Pops Tuesday, 8 Dec 2020 at 09:41 am

Up there for sure.
How's the coconuts on mr. Morgan!

fitzroy-21 Tuesday, 8 Dec 2020 at 10:25 am

How's the colors and shapes in the pic, bloody amazing.

Craig Tuesday, 8 Dec 2020 at 11:29 am

I rate it as one of the best, it's such a heavy and insane capture and tack sharp. For Lance to get in there and nail that shot as well is incredible.

Blowin Tuesday, 8 Dec 2020 at 11:33 am

Carnivorous !

Check how far forward his front strap is.

Patrick Wednesday, 9 Dec 2020 at 11:39 am

Pete chose a wetty and board as two of his ten items. Seems to be working for him. He may not be on the island the longest but I reckon he doesn't care.

goofyfoot Wednesday, 9 Dec 2020 at 12:10 pm

Haha well done Patrick

Blowin Thursday, 10 Dec 2020 at 04:40 pm

If I had the balls to ever catch a wave like Jake Osman’s WOTD I’d have the outside of my house printed up with the photographic evidence of it like a giant mural homage to my own courage and skill.

But I don’t so I can’t. Devastated

goofyfoot Thursday, 10 Dec 2020 at 05:20 pm

Like how Sam Newman had a Pamela Anderson mural on the front wall of his house

ringmaster Thursday, 10 Dec 2020 at 08:55 pm

But as far as I know, Sam never porked Pammy.

He shoulda got a mural of one of the desperate Toorak housewives instead to keep the analogy real.

Blowin Saturday, 12 Dec 2020 at 09:26 am

Have a go to get a go.

Westofthelake Saturday, 12 Dec 2020 at 08:31 pm

Why do I get the feeling he didn't make it? Looks pretty cold.

harrycoopr Sunday, 13 Dec 2020 at 10:31 am

Is that G-land Eddie?

Ape Anonymous Monday, 14 Dec 2020 at 10:01 am

Now that what we call 'an ear infection waiting to happen'.

thermalben Wednesday, 16 Dec 2020 at 01:25 pm

I reckon Andrew Mooney has a brand new leggie.

Blowin Wednesday, 16 Dec 2020 at 02:01 pm

Awesome spotting.

Straight lines !

Island Bay Wednesday, 16 Dec 2020 at 02:49 pm

You remember old-fashioned TVs, and how you'd sometimes make an aerial out of bits of wire and stand there and manoeuvre it around to get some sort of signal?
"Yes, perfect - don't move!"

That's what that Mooney pic reminded me of.

D-Rex Wednesday, 16 Dec 2020 at 05:52 pm

Good analogy IB! So, for the last time, am I the only one who knows who Jay Moriarity is/was?

zenagain Wednesday, 16 Dec 2020 at 06:50 pm

No D-Rex, you're not.

goofyfoot Wednesday, 16 Dec 2020 at 07:27 pm

Why would you be D-Rex?

D-Rex Thursday, 17 Dec 2020 at 08:08 am

The deafening silence surrounding my Dec 5 post, that's why!
