Rare sighting of an empty line up. That's something you don't see everyday
I don't often do a whole song title, usually weave a lone lyric in if there's a musical allusion in the caption, but today I figured, fuck it, if someone doesn't get it and asks the question then it just gives me an opportunity to talk about things I love.
And here we are!
1998. Thirty years after his death a trove of Woody Guthrie's unused lyrics are found. A call to Billy Bragg, who calls Wilco, and all together they record an album.
This is one of the highlights:
Something about Craig's photo, the difference in landscape from my home coast perhaps, or the solitude of a lonely lineup, made me think of that song and even though it's cryptic and doesn't make sense I went with gut feel.
Thanks for the explanation. I didn’t get the cryptic clue and was afraid to pull on the thread lest it led to revelation of the spot.
I like the idea of people thinking I'm dropping clues so deducing what they are.

Thanks, yeah bigger than it looks as well, that's a 5-6ft'er pushing through. Really fun that morning! A few bigger ones to get the heart rating but no 8ft wash-throughs.

If it's Vic it's highly likely just smoke and mirrors, i could take countless shots like this at my local that look amazing when it's clean and solid and breaking on outside banks, but the reality is they almost always run off to fast or closeout and if do peel rarely break in the same spot twice.
Last week was perfect conditions on the outside banks, i watched a paddle guy try to get some watched for half an hour and he got nothing, a Jetski was whipping a guy in to a few but even then they had trouble as just so hard to pic where to be if one does peel slow enough..
Today’s shot, pretty as a peach..... sure is, apart from that deep gutter to paddle across with the White season back in full swing!
It's foreboding in a quiet sort of way.
I was spun out at the parallel gutters so deep and the bank so far out on some of the beachies I surfed up there (one of which later had an attack occur).

Yep. I'm not the only one then. It's farked isn't it? Wouldn't have crossed my mind at all only a few years ago.
It's funny as those few years ago I'd come over from WA after going through what had happened there and there was this huge difference in perception of risk on the East coast, like there was none whatsoever.

Todays WOTD kinda reminded me of that.
Incredible shot and effort being out there at that size, as we all saw through the Margs comp.
A lot of surfers in margs area have those stripes on their boards a lot of surfers have huge guns too.
I remember Matt Percy saying in chili he was undergunned on a 8'6 on a monster swell.

In one photo you've encompassed everything nice about surfing. If I was a wanker I'd say that it was perfect except for the fact he is in a wetsuit. Which it is , it's perfect .....except for the fact he's in a wetsuit.
