Boland looking like he can bat as well.

southernraw Sunday, 29 Dec 2024 at 05:09 pm new

Exactly. Perfect @blackers.
Alot of misfielding giving us bonus runs here.
Another 10 mins and i reckon send em in.

etarip Sunday, 29 Dec 2024 at 05:10 pm new

If they get to 300 Lyons will start swinging

southernraw Sunday, 29 Dec 2024 at 05:12 pm new

Garry scores higher than Smith, Head, Konstas and Marsh and Carey. haha.

etarip Sunday, 29 Dec 2024 at 05:16 pm new

I’m psyching up for the rest of the backyard game. Gotta get 2 quick wickets and then bat through for at least 150 runs.

My 7yo batting partner is good for a chat but he’s a little prone to getting distracted by big bro’s shit talking and losing his wicket.

I’ve gotta stop hitting it over the fence for 6 and outs…

Also got to work out what deal the missus has made with the Kelpie. Damn dog has been dropping absolute sitters when I’m bowling loopy spinners to the missus and getting little poppy edges.

southernraw Sunday, 29 Dec 2024 at 05:15 pm new

Sounds like that's where the real action is this arv @etarip!
Might have to get one of those dog buckets(domes of shame) to put over the young fellas head though.

It would help in a variety of situations to be honest SR!

haha, "Also got to work out what deal the missus has made with the Kelpie. Damn dog has been dropping absolute sitters."

that's awesome @etarip. anyone into some easy holiday fiction, I really enjoyed this book, two Aussie brothers who become professional cricketers and have a lifelong rivalry forged in boyhood. One brother is a self-destructive ratbag, the other resents always having to pick up the pieces. The whole book has a dark, edgy, seediness via half-recalled childhood memories..

300!!!

southernraw Sunday, 29 Dec 2024 at 05:24 pm new

Hahaha i bet @etarip!

Ohh cheers @base. Will check it out.

As much as i want oz to bowl, i'm loving seeing them frustrate the Indians. Gotta be a slight psychological edge

Amazing how it's completely natural to sit through 5 days of test cricket, yet almost impossible to sit through 5 mins of Saquarema.
WSL and their broadcasters could learn alot from cricket and the way a story is built and enhanced around the play.
The commentary just adds to the story. No camera angle ever missed. Any indiscretions are put into sharp focus and analysed over and over.

etarip Sunday, 29 Dec 2024 at 05:28 pm new

I’m going to check that out b6. Need more fiction.

GuySmiley Sunday, 29 Dec 2024 at 05:32 pm new

Bring back Deano for Sydney!!

southernraw Sunday, 29 Dec 2024 at 05:38 pm new

Can just imagine Lyon and Boland walking back into the changerooms to all the dismissed batsmen...
'its not that hard fellas'.

basesix Sunday, 29 Dec 2024 at 05:39 pm new

or 'you guys are bowling next innings'.

southernraw Sunday, 29 Dec 2024 at 05:40 pm new

I just hope we haven't made it too big a total now with not enough time for India that they just come out and hit singles, block and play for a draw, and if they get close enough, put the foot down. I reckon we're blowing it staying out here right now.

southernraw Sunday, 29 Dec 2024 at 05:40 pm new

hahaha @basesix

etarip Sunday, 29 Dec 2024 at 05:41 pm new

Have they got time for a couple of overs tonight if they get out in the next 10min?

southernraw Sunday, 29 Dec 2024 at 05:42 pm new

Actually i reckon words gone out. Get it done before new ball.

southernraw Sunday, 29 Dec 2024 at 05:42 pm new

Maybe not now @etarip

etarip Sunday, 29 Dec 2024 at 05:45 pm new

Pitch still looks pretty good.

Lyons is going to go for it now I reckon.

6-91 to 9-205 is pretty bloody good

southernraw Sunday, 29 Dec 2024 at 05:44 pm new

Actually good point about the pitch.
Will be better tomorrow for a full day of bowling.
Rest up the bowlers tonight.

The Indians are blowing up at each other.
Hugely valuable partnership by these twos.
Exactly what we needed

southernraw Sunday, 29 Dec 2024 at 05:49 pm new

I love that Boland put the zinc on, as if he expected to be out there a long time. hehe.

etarip Sunday, 29 Dec 2024 at 05:58 pm new

Gary!!

southernraw Sunday, 29 Dec 2024 at 05:58 pm new

These two have nearly scored higher than Austrlaia's top and middle order combined (with the exception of Marnus)

southernraw Sunday, 29 Dec 2024 at 06:02 pm new

There ya go. They've just equaled it. 45.

southernraw Sunday, 29 Dec 2024 at 06:03 pm new

HAHAHAHAHA!!!
Suck it India!

basesix Sunday, 29 Dec 2024 at 06:04 pm new

oooooh fuuuck, hahah

southernraw Sunday, 29 Dec 2024 at 06:05 pm new

Insane stuff. Two legends!
And they can rest up and be full of confidence in the morning.
What a turn of events!

basesix Sunday, 29 Dec 2024 at 06:07 pm new

nice one!! see yez tomorrow : )

etarip Sunday, 29 Dec 2024 at 06:08 pm new

This is an incredible game.
Australia and India series are awesome.

dazzler Sunday, 29 Dec 2024 at 06:17 pm new

Highest ever 4th innings run chase at MCG is 332 in 1928.

Boundary on last ball took lead to 333.

stunet Sunday, 29 Dec 2024 at 06:18 pm new

Strarc on ABC radio saying he's fighting fit, no strain or injury. Didn't know - or wouldn't divulge - why Cummins didn't declare and hit the Indian openers with 30 mins of pace.

Big day tomoz - feels like it's gonna be decided in the long shadows.

flow Sunday, 29 Dec 2024 at 06:26 pm new

Yes. I think Taylor would have declared late today if he was still around. I guess there could be some tired/ injured bowlers.

etarip Sunday, 29 Dec 2024 at 06:43 pm new

Backyard update:
Chasing 149 to win in the last innings.
We’re currently 1-55

stunet Sunday, 29 Dec 2024 at 06:45 pm new

149..?

Big backyard you got there.

etarip Sunday, 29 Dec 2024 at 06:51 pm new

3-78

Also. Kelpie caught a screamer to dismiss the 7yo. The plot thickens.

stunet Sunday, 29 Dec 2024 at 07:03 pm new

Nothing wrong with a specialist fielder.

Long as he plays on both teams.

etarip Sunday, 29 Dec 2024 at 07:28 pm new

She was much more lively in the evening session.

Came down to the last wicket. 7yo hit a 4 off mum to win for India.

(4 is hitting the side fence)

etarip Sunday, 29 Dec 2024 at 07:43 pm new

IMG-4383

Action shot from the last couple of balls. Not the match winning shot, but the equalizer.

Note pumped up kelpie at silly mid on

And the ladder for retrieving balls over the fence.

GuySmiley Sunday, 29 Dec 2024 at 07:45 pm new

^^ geez a keen in your face fielder in a close mid-wicket there :)

etarip Sunday, 29 Dec 2024 at 07:51 pm new

She adjusts her placement based on assessed batting skill. It’s impressive.

7yo has earned himself a metre or so in the past couple of days. She was right under the grill last week.

blackers Sunday, 29 Dec 2024 at 08:02 pm new

Great result for the young fella (and yourself). Hope it is not an omen for tomorrow. Love how your fielder is on their toes, ready to pounce on any mistakes.

southernraw Sunday, 29 Dec 2024 at 08:36 pm new

haha. Exactly how i pictured the Kelpie!
Great shot and a timeless tradition @etarip.

etarip Sunday, 29 Dec 2024 at 08:40 pm new

Yeah, real confidence builder.
9yo was a bit deflated at that point, right when he worked out that he was probably going to lose the test. He’d bowled his heart out tho.
That was a 6 hour epic through the day. ABC Radio on in the background. Now they’re watching BBL on the iPad. (Three weeks ago they couldn’t care less about cricket)

Sport is so good for kids.

"Sport is so good for kids."

As a good mate once said to me "kids in sport stay out of court". Which I used to live by.

But then I think about pro NRL players...............
