I was on the Santa Cruz pier in 2019. My then wife and my son and I agreed it was dodgy back then, had the part wobbles and did not seem right.
It’s very old, steeped in history. Had a good crab chowder there but.
Not surprised to see it drifting into Steamer Lane.
All those businesses on it wouldn’t be happy. Merry Xmas . AW

How are the guys floating on the pier.
WHARF RESCUE | Three people were on the end of the Santa Cruz Wharf when it collapsed into the ocean. Two of them were rescued and one was able to get out on their own. No injuries were reported.

Crazy, the guys on the pier, there’s also a swell running right through the debris. And there’s a skid steer Bobcat hanging in there also, only in America, classic.
We were there in April, early Spring, cool but pleasant, water temperature, freezing as it is there much of the year.
It’s part of that cold current that pushes into San Francisco. Heaps of seals/sea lions basking on bearers under the entire length of the pier. Sharky as apparently. Known fatalities.
Watched heaps of surfers at heaps of spots, all round the headland and point, reminded me of Torquay, a wave around every cove and corner. All the best. AW

Far out that is a sick angle of that drop. Amazing his whole body was extended, arms above his head, on his tippytoes and still stuck it.
This guy faded just a bit too far and got well & truly lit up . Incredible spit on the first wave .
Really looking forward to TBs footage from yesterday, never seen anything like this before .

The most amazing thing about this, is that Albee managed to paddle into this giant, he was very close to getting under the lip . I can picture him popping up and in a maxwell smart voice saying “ missed it by that much “ @ udo any idea what length he’s riding ?
Some highlights of the tow session . A close up of the guy that faded too much on a giant , puts into perspective how big it was .
Deep , JOB making it look easy, water shot would have been great .
Haha cheers Udo . @udo , any idea on the length board Albee was riding on the big day at jaws ? Also on this wave , is it a case of too much water moving quickly up the face and the guy couldn’t get down it ? I remember watching a clip about the 100 ft wave being impossible to ride because of this .

Looks like he lacked the speed to get into this properly. That would have been a really steep drop and the consequences of falling would have been horrific .
